Never questioning myself what I wanted to be one day, my design experience started with a six month internship at „create and more“ near Frankfurt. After that I went to the Berlin University of the Arts as a guest student and finally started my diploma program at the Offenbach University of Art and Design from where I graduated in October 2014.
During my studies I worked as a flight attendant for Lufthansa on short and long-distance flights and was part of the Lufthansa Public Relations Team. Countries, traditions, nature and people from all over the world inspire my design projects. The main things I learned from being a flight attendant are:
Handling stressful and critical situations, setting priorities, taking on responsibility, discipline, reliability, service oriented mindset, respect of different cultures, cultural knowledge and understanding, hard working, careful observation, delivering alternatives and teamwork.
Another internship followed in spring 2013 at the Siemens Home Appliances Design Department at B/S/H/ in Munich where I filed two patents.
Design is a fascinating field to me, because it never stops challenging you. There are always new ways of thinking, new materials to find a place for, technical and formal improvement or a complete change of what we are used to. It is not only about creating and forming things, it is much more about the way it makes people live, about their aspects, their everyday life and the right way of giving them tools to open all kinds of options they need for living the way they want to. We, as designers do not only have the power to shape our future, but also carry the responsibility for the future we are creating.
After my Product Design studies I decided to become part of the Interaction Design Programme at CIID to spice up my skills in an international and multidisciplinary environment. It was a great opportunity for me to learn from experts as well as my peers and get an understanding of a wide range of design disciplines.
In the future I would like to combine the two disciplines of Product Design and Interaction Design in a digital and physical way. Working in multidisciplinary teams and environments, with different international clients and in various fields should be part of my everyday life.
